Instructions for whitening at home

  • The bleaching gel must be protected from the sun and be kept in the refrigerator.
  • The gel should stay in contact with the teeth for at least 2 hours
  • Before placing the whitening splints on the teeth, you should wash your teeth very well (not hard brushing), and rinse thoroughly as well, then wipe the outer surface of the desired teeth with a towel in order the gel to have a better effect.
  • The desired amount of gel to be applied to the bleach splint is half the size of a bean.
  • This quantity should be placed on each desired tooth (usually 6-8 anterior teeth), on the inner side of the splint and on which side it will come into contact with the buccal surface and near the masticatory surface of the tooth.
  • The excess material can be removed with a cotton swab or toothbrush.
  • Brush your teeth very well after each gel application. The use of a whitening toothpaste will help increase and maintain the whitening effect
  • Always keep the bleach splints clean before and after the gel is applied. Before applying the gel make sure that the splints are dry.
  • Avoid food and liquids that “color” the tooth (such as beetroot, red sauce, red wine, cigarettes, coffee), especially after removing the splint for at least 1 hour.
  • Throughout the whitening, try to reduce the use of all coloring foods and liquids, such as cigarette, red beetroot, red wine, coffee, red sauce, tea, chamomile, raspberry, red meat, chocolate, cherry, soft drinks like cola.

Placing bleaching gel on dental crowns or any other prosthetic work is not necessary, because the prosthetic material cannot be bleached
