Instructions after Endodontic Treatment

  • After endodontic treatment you avoid biting the treated tooth for 3 days
  • There may be nausea at the point of treatment for a few days.
  • There may be some relative pressure in the area, and it may last for a few days.
  • If the temporary filling is completely removed from the tooth, please come to the dental office as soon as possible to place the temporary filling again on the tooth (we do not want germs contaminate the treated tooth). If a small part of the temporary filling has been removed there is no reason to worry and you can wait until your next scheduled appointment to continue treatment.
  • Generally it is advisable to avoid chewing on the area of the tooth until the tooth is permanently restored to avoid a fracture.

In cases of more severe pain and possibly edema in the area of the endodontically treated tooth, you can do the following:

  • Wash with salt water, lukewarm or warm water in the disturbing area (a low glass of wine with a teaspoon)
  • In case of edema, place ice on the site of endodontic treatment for 2-3 hours only on the first day of surgery without direct skin contact (put on a towel), hold it for 10 minutes and leave it for 10 minutes.
  • In case of pain, you can get some painkillers.
  • If medication is ineffective, you should go to the doctor to treat the symptoms.
  • Do not use an antibiotic medication if you have not contacted us first.
