Dental Sealants
The problem
The masticatory surfaces of the posterior teeth (molars and premolars) have small grooves, which cannot be cleaned either by dental hygiene with a toothbrush or by a professional dentist. In these grooves, it is very easy to for germs to penetrate that cannot be cleaned, thereby causing dental caries.
What are dental sealants
It is a preventive treatment in which we cover the masticatory surface of the tooth, thus preventing the germs from adhering to the grooves present on the chewing surface. As a result, dental caries cannot be created on the specific surface of the tooth.
Preventive dental sealants are a procedure that causes no pain at all. There is no drilling of the tooth and anesthesia.
Preventive dental sealants are very important to be applied to children 5 years of age or older. They can also be used for adults when appropriate.
Generally the best indication is when the patient is prone to dental caries.
The procedure of preventive blockages
At first we apply a special medicine on the surface of the tooth to kill all germs.
We then apply flow resin to the place where we have applied the medicine. And then we photo-polymerize it. As a result, the flow resin hardens and becomes like a glass.
The result
After the flow resin has solidified, we have created the preventive seal. The surface we have created as glass works to inhibit the penetration of germs into the chewing gums of the tooth.
The dental sealant it has 100% success in the prevention of dental carries in the masticatory surface of the tooth.
